Riera has made the hard court awkward
Riera reached this stage by outlasting Mary Stoiana 4-6 7-6(7) 6-3 in more than three hours. It was an expensive route, but also useful evidence: she varied the rhythm, survived the tightest phase and finished with control.

Why the margin looks overstated
Riera has already beaten Blinkova this season after recovering from a dreadful opening set. That matters here: she knows Blinkova’s first surge is not necessarily the final arrangement, and her higher, deeper ball can keep the favourite striking beyond her preferred contact zone.
Recovery after the Stoiana match is the clear risk.
