One survives, the other limits the damage
Dencheva has played six singles matches and repeatedly recovered from poor positions. She beat world No. 104 Francesca Jones 7-6(5), 5-7, 6-4, then came from a set and 1-4 down against Irene Burillo in the semifinal. Her 33-9 clay record this season reflects excellent rally tolerance, though the workload is becoming substantial.
Ibragimova reached the semifinal without dropping a set, including a 7-5, 6-1 win over No. 145 Leyre Romero Gormaz after trailing 3-5 in the opener. She then recovered from a set down against Alicia Herrero Linana. Her route has been more economical, built on early return pressure rather than repeated acts of repair.
An early break may settle very little
Neither semifinal was controlled by serve, and Dencheva’s match with Burillo became a sequence of breaks and immediate replies. Ibragimova is better placed to start cleanly, but Dencheva has spent the week demonstrating that a scoreboard deficit is not yet a conclusion.
That makes 21.5 games a modest line. A deciding set would clear it comfortably, while two close sets can also be enough; with both players attacking second serves and struggling to consolidate, the value sits with a long final rather than a routine one.
