Pronostics pour Maja Chwalinska — Maria Sakkari

Chwalinska has the stronger current case. Ranked 22 to Sakkari’s 35, she has beaten Sherif, Bouzkova after losing the first set, and No. 11 Jovic 6-4, 6-1. Against Bouzkova, the key was taking returns earlier and coming forward; in Singapore she beat Mertens 6-2, 6-2 with slice, topspin and sudden pace.

Sakkari’s wins over Vekic and Kostyuk were comebacks, with Kostyuk’s errors helping. No. 202 Pohankova broke her as she served for the match; against Svitolina, Sakkari went 0 for 5 on break points and said she had lacked courage on big points. Gibson also beat her in Singapore. Chwalinska has already come back to beat Sakkari at Roland-Garros, though that was on clay.

At around 2.15, Chwalinska to win is the better price for a match I see as close to even. The +1.5 games adds little protection for shorter odds; 21.5 games is hard to call, with break-heavy sets as plausible as a tight three-setter.

The concern is workload: Chwalinska plays a fourth straight day after doubles, while Sakkari rested. Faster hard courts can blunt Chwalinska’s spin and movement, but her wins have been efficient, and no physical restriction has been reported.
